924S, 944 and 968 Super Bearings
The 924S, 944 and 968 Super Bearing line has been engineered to exceed performance standards of the OE bearing units.
As seen in the comparison picture, our Super Bearings have an increased amount of rubber in the inner bearing insert and the longer outer carrier body to help dampen the pronounced drive line vibrations these Porsches had due to their inline 4 cylinder engines. In fact, Porsche used counter rotating shafts in these engines which they borrowed under license from Mitsubishi®, as well as other modifications to help control these drive line vibrations. With the 3.0 liter 944S2 and 968 engines, which at the time of manufacture were the largest displacement four cylinder engines in production, Porsche even made modifications to their torque tubes to further control these vibrations.
The robust construction of our Super Bearings has allowed some owners to use three Super Bearings in their torque tube rebuilds rather than the standard four bearing units Porsche used in their torque tubes.
However, we will always recommend four Super Bearings for Porsches with increased engine output or those used in racing events.

However, due to the difficulty of dismantling a 924S, 944 and 968 torque tube, our instructions start with a dismantled and clean torque tube since we do not advocate any certain way to dismantle one.
